Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2⁄3 cup shortening
  • 2⁄3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

1 _ Preheat oven to 375°F.

2 _ Cream together shortening and butter.

3 _ Add sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla.

4 _ Blend in flour, baking soda, and salt.

5 _ Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.

6 _ Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, 2-inches apart, onto baking sheet.

7 _ Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly brown.

8 _ Do not over bake!


9 _ Cool slightly before removing to wire cooling rack.

10 _ To keep cookies soft, store in an airtight container with a slice of bread!
