Pumpkin Pie Filled Donuts

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon maple extract (Mapeline preferred)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tube Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Frozen Flaky Layers Biscuits
  • 2 cups avocado
  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 _ In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons melted butter, milk, and maple extract to create the icing. If needed, add more powdered sugar or milk to get the consistency equal to a soft, spreadable frosting.

2 _ In a small bowl, stir together pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, sugar, and 2 tablespoons of butter.

3 _ Prepare the frying oil by placing it into a deep-sided skillet and bringing it to medium-low heat over the stove.

4 _ Open the Pillsbury™ biscuits. Gently pull each in half, press down the center of the biscuits, and fill with 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree mixture. Place the top back on the biscuit and press closed with a fork.

5 _ Fry donuts in oil. They should fry on medium-low heat until the are a dark, golden brown to ensure the center cooks and isnt doughy when you pull it apart for eating!

6 _ As soon as the top and bottom of the donuts are fried, remove them carefully from the hot oil with a slotted spoon, transfer to a parchment-lined drying rack, and spoon a dollop of frosting right on top of the hot donut. Smooth slightly with a spoon. Allow frosting to firm up slightly before enjoying!
