Old-fashioned Buttermilk Pie


  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), melted
  • 1-1/2 cup ssugar
  • 3 tablespoonsall-purpose flour
  • 3eggs, beaten
  • 1 pin chsalt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 unbaked deep dish pie crust, homemade or store-bought +


1_ Preheat oven to 400°F.

2_ In a mixing bowl, mix together sugar, flour, and salt.

3_ Add melted butter and mix with a wooden spoon until well-mixed.

4_ Add vanilla and mix in well.

5_ Add eggs and mix in well.

6_ Add buttermilk, a little at a time, mixing well each time, until all buttermilk has been mixed in.

7_ Pour filling into pie crust.

8_ Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes. Then reduce heat to 350°F and bake for another 50-60 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

9_ Allow to cool for a while before serving. Pie can be served warm or cold.
