Meringue for Pies


  • 4 Egg Whites @ room temperature
  • 1/4 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla


1_ Beat egg whites and cream of Tartar until peaks form.

2_ Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and continue to beat until peaks are stiff & glossy but not dry.

3_ Beat in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.

4_ Top your filled pie anchoring the meringue to the edges of pie crust all the way around.

5_ Bake in 375°F oven for 20 minutes or until top of meringue browns good.

6_ Let pie cool completely @ room temperature before refrigerating.
